党的伟大精神和光荣传统是我们的宝贵精神财富，是激励我们奋勇前进的强大精神动力。在庆祝中国共产党成立100周年大会上，习近平总书记精辟概括伟大建党精神的深刻内涵，指出：“一百年前，中国共产党的先驱们创建了中国共产党，形成了坚持真理、坚守理想，践行初心、担当使命，不怕牺牲、英勇斗争，对党忠诚、不负人民的伟大建党精神，这是中国共产党的精神之源”。

     The party’s great spirit and glorious traditions are our valuable spiritual wealth and a powerful spiritual driving force to inspire us to move forward bravely. At the ceremony marking the centenary of the Communist Party of China, General Secretary Xi Jinping summed up the profound connotation of the great founding spirit, and pointed out, “A hundred years ago, the pioneers of Communism in China established the Communist Party of China and deve- loped the great founding spirit of the Party, which is comprised of the follow-ing principles: upholding truth and ideals, staying true to our original aspi-ration and founding mission, fighting bravely without fear of sacrifice, and remaining loyal to the Party and faithful to the people. This spirit is the Party’s source of strength .”

习近平总书记指出“一百年来，中国共产党弘扬伟大建党精神，在长期奋斗中构建起中国共产党人的精神谱系，锤炼出鲜明的政治品格”，强调“我们要继续弘扬光荣传统、赓续红色血脉，永远把伟大建党精神继承下去、发扬光大！”

General Secretary Xi Jinping pointed out, “Over the past hundred years, the Party has carried forward this great founding spirit. Through its protracted struggles, it has developed a long line of inspiring principles for Chinese Commu-nists and tempered a distinct political character. As history has kept moving forward, the spirit of the Party has been passed on from generation to genera-tion. We will continue to promote our glorious traditions and sustain our revo-lutionary legacy, so that the great found-ing spirit of the Party will always be kept alive and carried forward.”

深刻领会伟大建党精神的丰富内涵，也就明白了“我是谁，为了谁，依靠谁”，清楚了“我们从哪儿来，往哪儿去”。

     By deeply understanding the rich connotation of the great founding  spirit, we can understand “who I am, for whom and who I rely on”, and “where we come from and where we should go”.

“坚持真理、坚守理想，践行初心、担当使命，不怕牺牲、英勇斗争，对党忠诚、不负人民”，32个字，字字珠玑，是中国共产党特质的生动写照。

    Every word of the principles is a vivid portrayal of the characteristics of the Communist Party of China.

“坚持真理、坚守理想”，展现了我们党强大的思想理论优势；“践行初心、担当使命”，展现了我们党强大的政治优势；“不怕牺牲、英勇斗争”，展现了我们党强大的精神优势；“对党忠诚、不负人民”，展现了我们党强大的道德优势。

    The principles present the living proof about the advantages of our Party in ideological, theoretical, poli-tical, spiritual and moral aspects.

弘扬伟大建党精神，首要的就是广大党员干部群众坚定不移跟党走，坚定不移走中国特色社会主义道路，深入贯彻落实习近平新时代中国特色社会主义思想。

    To champion the great founding spirit of the Party, the first and fore-most task for all is to firmly follow the Party's leadership. We should firmly commit to the path of building socialism with Chinese features and act in accordance with Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era.

伟大事业孕育伟大精神，伟大精神引领伟大事业。永远把伟大建党精神继承下去、发扬光大，全面建成社会主义现代化强国的目标一定能够实现，中华民族伟大复兴的中国梦一定能够实现。
